匿名 asked: In about a month, my High school Japanese class will be doing group presentations. We can choose any topic to do for our research, like food, architecture, sports, cultural history etc. I need recommendations on what me and my friends should research for our presentation. Nothing too common like sushi and origami. Help? :)

the education system in japan, clothes (traditional, maybe?), customs, technology in japan compared to the rest of the world or famous japanese holidays.

How about the art of tea~
Please don’t talk about j-pop or anime, that is just so common and dorky and I would even find lame if I were the teacher. There is SO MUCH MORE to their culture than those two things.
Or the historical city of Kyoto. You could talk about the geisha districts and secretive world of geishas.
  5. twoshibaswalkedintoabarのコメント: compare and contrast Japanese and American baseball? That’s one I considered doing for a Japanese culture course I took in college. Or furoshiki, like I ended up actually doing :)
Visual Kei or Japanese music in general.
  7. moondreamzs2のコメント: you can do food! for level 5 japanese back in high school we learned a lot about the meaning behind japanese food like the shape, color, texture…..like noodles mean long life….u can also look into wagashi which are japanese confectionaries
  8. bayergalのコメント: festivals are freaking amazing in japan, totally different from anything ive seen in the western world
I would recommend the ”bubble economy”
You could talk about Japan’s consumer market, but what he suggested sounds much more entertain presentations XD
But what about vending machines.
